WES/TPVS PTO Meeting Minutes—March 12, 2024

1. Welcome and Introductions

  • PTO Member Attendees: Kirstin, Demetra, Donna, Holly, Mallory, Zoe, Lizzie, Heather, 

  • School admin: Lori Beyland, Maggie Mills

  • Public members: Noelle (3 kids), Marianne (2 kids), Jennifer (3 kids)

2. Approval of Last Meeting's Notes- approved by all attended members

3. Bake Sale Update

  • Partnered with the garden club, raised $720 in 4 hours

  • Ms. Allison will collaborate with students on a proposal for garden club needs

  • PTO to support more clubs, donated seeds

4. Review Budget and Teacher Stipend

  • $500 (after taxes) for teacher stipend for afterschool clubs, $200 for supplies (budgeted for 5 clubs)

  • 3 clubs initiated, and will provide supplies $ when needed

5. Upcoming Fundraising Dates

  • Spring Fling Kickoff Meeting on March 20th, 3pm

  • Parents Night Out on April 3rd, 6-9pm

  • TPVS Harvest Supper Kickoff on April 17th, 3:15pm

6. Teacher Appreciation Week

  • Week of May 6th

  • Subcommittee needed

  • Chalk the Walk and Breakfast (May 5th and 6th respectively)

  • Kirsten reached out to Heather Durkle who will do the teacher appreciation bouquets again this year

  • Other Ideas for Teacher Appreciation

    • Surveys, wishlists, catered lunches, discounts at local businesses

9. School Board Meeting Update

  • Theme: Bond vote, community insights

  • Disappointment among teachers and students

  • PTO to strategize community education efforts

10. Action Items

  • Create a spreadsheet of local businesses for tracking outreach

  • New members to sign up for teacher appreciation subcommittee, Donna to send intro email

  • Update subcommittee list and membership (need more outreach)

  • Discuss PTO's role in educating the community post School Board meeting
